One of the biggest questions surrounding AI is whether it will eventually replace people.
Inside an insurance agency, that fear makes sense. AI can draft emails, organize information, summarize conversations, and complete repetitive tasks much faster than a person can.
But that does not mean the producer, account manager, or CSR disappears.
The bigger change may be in how those jobs are done.
Insurance still requires judgment.
Clients still need someone who can explain coverage, solve problems, manage relationships, and understand the situation when something becomes complicated.
Where AI can help is with the repetitive work around those responsibilities.
Emails.
Documentation.
Follow ups.
Data entry.
Routine administrative work.
If technology removes some of that workload, employees have more time for the work that actually requires insurance knowledge and human judgment.
Imagine an experienced account manager who already understands insurance and knows the agency’s clients.
Now that person also knows how to use AI effectively.
They can communicate faster, organize information more efficiently, and spend less time on repetitive tasks.
That employee has not become easier to replace.
They may have become more valuable.
The same applies to producers and agency owners.
The future may not be about competing against AI.
It may be about knowing how to use it as another tool.
You do not need to become an AI expert overnight.
Start with something you already do.
Maybe you know exactly what you want to say in an email, but it takes 20 minutes to make it sound right.
Use an approved AI tool to create the first draft.
Then review it.
Make sure it is accurate.
Make sure it still sounds like you.
That alone can save time.
Then find the next small task.
AI can help you work faster.
It should not replace your voice, judgment, or relationships.
Those are still some of the most valuable things an insurance professional brings to the table.
The opportunity is to let technology handle more of the repetitive work so you have more time for the work only you can do.
